LABOR SUPPORT PACKAGE

  • Continuous email/text/phone support

  • Up to three prenatal visits

:: Before Labor / Prenatal ::

 

I will meet with you for up to three prenatal appointments to explore your options, discuss your priorities-hopes-wishes, go-over any fears or concerns you may have, and plan how we might best work together. During these appointments I will also provide information to enable you to make informed decisions, assist in the creation of your birth plan/preferences, and explore your own best ways of coping with labor and birth. During the rest of your pregnancy, we will remain in touch by telephone, text, or email. To ensure you feel as prepared as possible, we will stay connected as questions arise, or to give me updates after appointments — I’m here for you!

:: Labor and Birth ::

 

I will be on call for you 24 hours a day at the start of your 37th week, up until your labor begins. I prefer that you call me when you think you are in labor, even if you do not yet need me. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone and make preparations to come to you. During your labor, I will provide you with physical and emotional support as well as assist your partner by offering reassurances and suggestions. I will also help facilitate your ability to get the information you need from your care providers during the process. We will work together to honor your birth preferences to create a positive, calm, and empowered experience that allows for adaptability as your birth unfolds.

:: After Birth ::

 

I will remain with you for one to two hours after you have your baby is born - until the placenta is delivered, and you are feeling comfortable and ready for quiet time. I am happy to help with initial breastfeeding whenever possible. I will check on you the day after the birth to see how you are doing and answer any questions you may have. In the days following, we can arrange a postpartum visit at a convenient time, during which we can review the birth, go-over care ideas for postpartum healing, discuss referrals for other assistance if necessary, and admire your new beautiful baby!
